Latest Updates from Our Project:

Three-point update from Emily! (Sorry for similar emails all at once, but the middle part is different in each! Does that work?)
7 months ago – Sat, Sep 30, 2023 at 11:58:44 AM

Hello! Thank you for putting up with this three-point update, of which you may receive more than one, depending on how many of our recent campaigns you've supported. And thank you - thank you - for that.

Small Talk of Relevance to Alia Terra: Did you see that Matthew Spencer also illustrated the cover to our upcoming novel Be the Sea? And that our trans novella, Pluralities, releases in three days? And that we just released a whole collection of stories celebrating marginalized genders in science, Rosalind's Siblings? I hope you'll check them all out!

Embroidered Worlds! It's the last few hours of our campaign for the translation and publication of Ukrainian stories in English. If you haven't, please check it out, watch the video, see the extraordinary bookplates that you can only get through this campaign, and enjoy my inexorable hustle on social media until midnight edt. Why? These stories deserve it, these editors deserve it, these writers deserve it - and I think our little small press deserves it. Plus - I really want to send all backers that swag bag and we're so in reach! More info in this email I sent yesterday, available in both professional and half-a$$ (with accompanying illustration) versions.

Sending my love! - Emily.

From the Other Realm into Embroidered Worlds
8 months ago – Sat, Aug 26, 2023 at 08:28:25 AM

Hello humans, kittens, dragons, tendrils and wisps and everyone in between,

Good wishes to you all this summer, which for me has been wrought of cold rain and scorching heat alike, as travels brought about sights old and new across this temperamental continent. Its life has not been easy these past couple of years, though, hasn't it? Not so much as uninvited, unwelcome violence hit the ground so near my old home. As a child I used to look across the Danube water, stood atop the highest city hill, delighted in the nightlights from the sibling city in the distance, on the other side of the border.

My writing has ebbed and flowed, in these times. Recently, together with a trans and non-binary group, I participated in a creative project: TRANSOUGHTS, a special issue of the Konstruksjon zine. Some details are here, and a digital version is being prepared for international readers. More stories coming out at the end of the year, although I am bound by an oath of silence until then.

Photo of a magazine spread showing the first paragraphs of story titled Take Your Seat by Ava Kelly. On one side, half of the page is covered by an artwork (digital painting mixed with photography) showing a series of beads in a row spreading fluifly into motion at the edges, all black except one which shines in shades of pink and blue.

In the meantime, siblings from across the river have joined our Atthis Arts family on an important project: Embroidered Worlds:  Fantastic Fiction from Ukraine and the Diaspora, edited by Valya Dudycz  Lupescu, Olha Brylova, and Iryna Pasko.

Embroidered Worlds is an anthology of imaginative fiction in Ukrainian culture today, with stories that span and cross the speculative fictions. The majority contributors will be writers currently living in Ukraine, and for most of them it will be the first time their work will be translated into English, while some stories will come from writers of the Ukrainian diaspora.

Atthis Arts is hoping for a strong start on the Kickstarter campaign when it launches on 1 September. If you'd feel inclined to help (and the realms do hope so), please share word of this. As for now, click “Notify me on Launch” on the Kickstarter preview page and join the other followers. The more people follow this campaign, the more powerful the message behind it will be!

The thunder accompanies me as I leave you to your summers, with hopes for a gentle weekend and kind autumn ahead.

Be brave, my friends,

Ava

Alia Terra Coloring Books: First Look!
over 1 year ago – Tue, Nov 22, 2022 at 01:07:28 AM

(If you have already backed The Traveling Treasure Trove, thank you!!)

Chris here.

We just received the first proof copies of the printed coloring book edition of Alia Terra, and they are AMAZING! You can get a copy via the Traveling Treasure Trove Kickstarter. The coloring book (either print or print-at-home PDF) can be yours for a single gold coin (at the "Open the Treasure Chest" level or higher).

Notes: 1) Only copies ordered through this campaign will have the early supporter marking. 2) For international shipping, please add one more gold coin, understanding we can't control in-country taxes. 3) The PDF is only going to be available through this campaign, but we wanted an option for international backers and also people who'd like to print it over and over again.

Alia Terra Coloring Book

By choosing a wire binding, the book is able to lay completely flat on the table, in both a single page or as a full spread. The front and back covers are both colorable; the cover is uncoated cardstock. (And Emily keeps saying it feels nice on her fingers.)

The Traveling Treasure Trove Kickstarter ends in 9 days. Any posts or shares are super appreciated!

And finally, here is short video of Vera coloring some dragons, enjoy!

Free coloring pages! (Show us your art?)
over 1 year ago – Mon, Nov 07, 2022 at 10:11:45 PM

Hello! Emily here.  : D

I am really excited to announce that four free coloring pages are now available on the Alia Terra product page, for you, for fun, for comfort. (Technically five...) Share and use them freely!

And we'd love to see your art and send back some love. If you color one of the pages, would you share it with us? Here is text you could use (or edit) for social media, if you're not sure what to say:

  • I coloured a dragon! @atthisarts #AtthisArts #AliaTerra
  • I colored a dragon! @atthisarts #AtthisArts #AliaTerra

Alia Terra Treasures - and more!

Please see our recent update to The Traveling Treasure Trove Kickstarter for details on the Alia Terra full coloring book, including a new PDF version that will only be available during this November campaign. Plus we're offering books, tassels, candles, squids, enamel pins, fashion, and some stuff I called, um, my jewels. Hey, I *sparkle*.

Bluntly and with dragonfire? I'd really like to get the new Triple-C audiobook (read by C. S. E. Cooney!) funded, and then get to Big Stretch Goals including Gray Assassin audiobooks (read by Tren Sparks!), a new Alyssia hardcover, and maybe all the way to a new anthology. (See more on the campaign page.)  So please let people know about the campaign, if you can! Here's the link to share, and a little recommendation (even "Please consider supporting this small press" or "These treasures are so fun") helps so much.

Thank you again for your support to our little dragon realm - you made all of this possible! ♥, - Emily.

We mentioned coloring dragons?
over 1 year ago – Tue, Nov 01, 2022 at 11:21:47 AM

It's here! Today, we launched the Kickstarter to fund an audiobook for our 2019 paranormal queer literary fantasy roadtrip (it's amazing) The Traveling Triple-C Incorporeal Circus, written by Alanna McFall and performed by C. S. E. Cooney. Initially, that was going to be our only focus.

But then you asked ... Can we color the dragons? And the idea of treasures was born. So - now is that time!

I hope you'll give our campaign a look. All pledges, starting at $1 include both the audiobook and e-book for Triple-C, and then there are "coins" to hoard, treasures to peruse, and books to add.

Looking for something queer? All these books are queernormative, but for extra queerness, check out The Traveling Triple-C Incorporeal Circus (again, included at all pledge levels) and my own Night Ivy, of course in addition to Alia Terra: Stories from the Dragon Realm. (Available as add-ons and shipping in December, you can pick up more copies of the original as gifts, donations, or extra glitter on your book hoard. We see you, dragon!)

Thank you for helping us bring Alia Terra to our world and, as always, for supporting indie fiction! - Emily.
